The maculatums enjoy woodland conditions. They will grow in sun, but dappled shade would be perfect for them. They are generally mid height and come in white and soft pink, as well as in both green and red foliage types. Their flowers are attractively rounded, and they are strong growers. They are pretty drought tolerant, however they do enjoy a soil that is enriched with some humus, so if you have some space under some trees or on the edge of a tree canopy, they would be a sound choice. They flower in spring and will come back again if cut back after their first flush.
Hardy Geraniums are one of the most diverse genera of herbaceous perennials. It is possible to find a Geranium to suit most parts of your garden, from the vast range of species and varieties available. They complement most other plants beautifully and, chosen wisely, can provide a continuation of colour in the garden from spring through to early winter.
Please note that the heights, spreads and flowering periods mentioned are approximate, as they can be affected by your soil type, light levels and other various conditions that may surround the plant.
